In contrast, the tension reel is positioned at the delivery end of the production line and is to wind the strip or plate to form coils. The collapsible mandrel of the tension reel tightly winds the coil while supplying the necessary tension during line operation, requiring significantly more force than a payoff reel. This component is alternatively referred to as a winder, coiler, or recoiler.
Both the payoff reel and tension reel consist of a mandrel, gearbox, base frame, motor and coupling, brake, traversing and centering mechanism, as well as hydraulic and lubrication mechanisms.
